Chidakash Kalalay
Centre of Art and Divinity
Rooted in the Mārga Nāṭya Paramparā
About
Chidakash Kalalay is an Indian theatre collective from West Bengal, dedicated to theatre as sādhana—a disciplined path where nāṭya, body, breath, and consciousness converge.
Mārga Nāṭya Paramparā
Our work is grounded in the śāstric vision of the Nāṭyaśāstra, where rasa arises through precision of śarīra, vāc, and citta.
We engage in the reconstruction of the 108 karaṇas, revival of ancient musical instruments, and the practice of Gandharva music as documented in classical texts.
Practice & Sādhana
Training is rigorous, inward, and continuous—cultivating stillness, attention, and embodied awareness beyond performance alone.
Our disciples live the Guru-Shishya Parampara, embracing a way of life where art becomes a spiritual practice, integrating gardening, craft, natural dyeing, and contemplative study.
Performances & Research
Our productions and research emerge from sustained engagement with classical texts, practice traditions, and contemporary inquiry.
From Viraha-Gatha to Bhasa-Bharatam, each work embodies years of reconstruction, bringing ancient theatrical forms into living practice for contemporary audiences.
Theatre as invocation.
Art as remembrance.
Nāṭya as sādhana.
